Basic Skills Necessary:

  • simple sewing and quilting, simple embroidery, applique

Pattern Description:

This sweet little girl is standing under her umbrella after a nice rain! The opening lines to the folk song are in the sky printed border. The words can be embroidered or written with paint pen and embroidered or quilted around. This is a nice sized quilt for naps and snuggling or for a wall hanging.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • approximately 55" x 39"


  • Fabric: gray for sky - 1 yd if at lest 42" wide (you will need 41 1/2" x 26 1/2"), black/white checkerboard with 1" checks -1/4 yd., blue sky -1/2 yd., yellow for border #3, raincoat, and hat - 3/4 yd.,
  • fat quarters or scraps: green (umbrella), red (rainboots), flesh for skin, hair color (your choice), optional raindrops (irridescent fabric), black or bown for umbrella stick
  • backing - 2 2/3 yd. cut in half and sewn together lengthwise
  • batting
  • embroidery floss in black (wording, pupil of eyes), dk. flesh (facial features), eye color, brown (eyebrows, eyelashes), dk. yellow (details on raincoat), dk. red (details on rainboots)

You Will Also Need:

  • freezer paper, glue stick
  • optional- paint pen for writing words instead of embroidering them
  • craft acrylic paint for eyes (white, black, eye color) - optional
