Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Rotary cutting skills and sewing with a 1/4" seam.

Pattern Description:

I originally designed this wall hanging September 12, 2001. The tragedy of September 11th inspired a patriotic feeling that led me to create this quilt. On my quilt, I have inscribed the first verse of “America the Beautiful” in the neutral stripes. This is optional. You may inscribe the words of any patriotic song or simply leave it plain.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • 17 x 27"


  • 1/2 yard white or tan fabric
  • 1/3 yard red fabric
  • 1/3 yard blue fabric
  • 1/2 yard backing (desired color) fabric
  • 1/6 yard red for binding

You Will Also Need:

  • 21 x 31" piece of batting
