Joan McGowan-Michael has been a professional fashion designer for more 25 years, styling garments for retailers as diverse as Frederick's of Hollywood and JC Penney. She founded her company, White Lies Designs, in 2001. It has since become the original go-to resource for lingerie patterns for hand knitting, and other romantic, vintage inspired knitwear styles in a wide range of sizes from petite to plus. Joan is a self-professed "fit geek" and incorporates dressmaker-style tailoring in many of her styles.
You've seen her work in Big Girl Knits, Stitch & Bitch Nation, and The Best of Interweave Knits. She has appeared on DIY's Knitty Gritty and the PBS series Shay Pendray's Needlework Studio. Her book, "Knitting Lingerie Style," was released in May 2007 by STC Publishing.
This vintage-inspired design makes the most of feminine assets with a bustier-like body and an illusion bodice and sleeves. The ribbed wool body hugs the waistline and the accordian-ridged bodice is gathered to hug the bust. The bodice and sleeves are worked in an open stitch in a whisper-soft kid mohair blend. Rhinestone studded findings finish the bust and sleeves in this elegant look. Finished bust sizes 34" to 46" US 7 and US 5 needles Find yarn and findings here: http://www.whiteliesdesigns.com/patterns/lpullovers/125.html
