I did not start creating jewelry in the beginning. I started working with beads because I wanted to bead a pair of shoes in the style of the Peranakan (Malay and Chinese mix heritage) women who live in the South East Asian region. They have the most beautiful colors and designs and I wanted a pair of my own. Once I made the first pair, then a second, then a third. Then I discovered other kinds of beads and other methods of putting the beads together. You can say from then on there was no stopping me.View all patterns by designer (73) »
Born Marie Josphe Rose Tascher de La Pagerie, Rose caught the eye of one of the more famous Emperors of France, Napolon Bonaparte. Originally known by the name Rose, Napolon prefered Josphine and so Josphine she became. First as Napolon's mistress, Josphine subsequently became his first wife and the first Empress of the French.
As Empress, Josphine de Beauharnais was popular and known for her kindness and generosity to foundlings. But perhaps what she is more famous for, is Napolon's devotion to her and the love letters he wrote to her.
"You to whom nature has given spirit, sweetness, and beauty, you who alone can move and rule my heart, you who know all too well the absolute empire you exercise over it!"
- Napolon Bonaparte -
