Images pop into my head that make me cackle softly with glee and I feel compelled to make them real and inflict them on the world. Being difficult by nature, my art media of choice is the creation of crocheted appliques. I love the challenge of turning thread into something recognizable. Someone at Ravelry who gets this about me suggested the whole Hatchet Man thing and, well, I just had to give it a go.
The version I made is about 5 inches square, in crochet thread with a size 9 hook. Good size for accenting scarves, hats, lapels, sleeves, backpacks.... Hmm. Now I'm wondering how one made in yarn with a "letter" hook would look on the back of a jacket? Or a baby blanket?
Does not matter for this pattern. Can even be worked with yarn - just expect the finished piece to be larger.
