Basic Skills Necessary:

  • You should already know how to ch, sl st, sc, hdc, and dc.

Pattern Description:

This versatile cape makes a great coverup for a summer outfit or adds a touch of color to a winter outfit. It can be worn as a traditional poncho or turned and worn sideways, too. Two border styles, scalloped or beaded fringe, are provided to create different looks. Instructions are also provided for a smaller neck opening if desired and detailed graphs are included for reference.

This pattern is written in U.S. terms.


As shown on the included graph:
9 x 9 grid = 3" square

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • The finished dimensions, based on a 30" neck opening, are: 13-1/8", 16" and 18-7/8" arm length; and 18-1/4", 22-1/4" and 26-1/4" center length.


  • Teal crochet cotton, size 10 - 1050-1850 yds. (960-1691 m)
  • Size 7 (1.65 mm) steel crochet hook

You Will Also Need:

  • Optional materials for the beaded fringe option: 6/0 seed beads and/or 6mm donut beads, and a beading needle.
