Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Be Familiar with the basics of Bead Crochet Stitch, Single Chain stitch

Pattern Description:

Once you master this crochet stitch, you can make bunches of these Friendship bracelets. Great as gifts or just make a bunch to wear as your own arm candy! Knowing how different folks prefer different closures, I am giving details on how to make three different kinds of closures for this bracelet. The button and leather loop closure: very rustic and bohemian looking! The traditional braided cord that you just knot onto your wrist. And, last but not least, a chain and lobster clasp that adds a little bling to your piece.

1 Bch, 1 Ch (should equal 1/2 ")

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • The completed friendship bracelet without the closure added measures 5-1/2". Additing the braided cord closure makes it fit anyone, bead and loop closure approx 7" with first loop, chan and lobster closure adjustable

  • Qty of 10 round 6mm beads (I used faceted Czech beads for the bracelets in this pattern)
  • Steel Crochet Hook size 6 (1.80mm)
  • Aluminum Crochet hook size E (3-1/2mm)
  • C-lon bead cord (I used a light latte shade for the bracelets pictured). You can also use size 10 crochet thread like DMC, Aunt Lydias - I prefer the more heavyweight sturdy C-lon cord
  • measuring tape or 12" ruler
  • Scissors
  • Needle with large enough eye to thread bead cord through
  • Optional: I like to secure my ends with a dot of GS Hypo Cement Glue. It dries clear and is easy to apply. You only need a tiny dot of it.
  • For the Bead and Leather loop closure, you will need a shank button and 1.5mm leather cord
  • For the lobster clasp and chain closure, you will need 2 7mm jumprings, 2-1/2 inches chain link, lobster clasp to fit your chain

Preferred Brand/Yarn:

C Lon Bead Cord is Best, could use Size 10 Crochet Thread
