Medallion Card With Embroidered Corners

Project Description

What inspired your paper craft project? Improvisational What are you most proud of? The fact that I was able to showcase my new embroidery punch and that I was successful at stitchery!! What advice would you give someone starting this project? Work with a collection of papers that were designed to go together. You will need four coordinating patterns/colors. (the prints are actually two different sizes although they might not appear to be). I used the La Creme collection by DCWV. The black sueded paper was used primarily as an "anchor" and was something that I already had on hand. The layout itself is all about scale. I used two sets of Spellbinders (small and large circles) to achieve the medallion effect and achieved stability in the largest circle by bonding two sheets of cardstock together before cutting it out. When cutting out the silhouette, I placed a piece of wax paper along with the paper in the diecut before running it through my Cuttlebug; this ensured easy release of the embellishment because the design is so delicate. It's adhered to the medallion with tiny pieces of red tape.

What you will need

  • Flocked print and linen texture paper from the "Le Creme" collection by DCWV; black suede accent paper by The Paper Company. Silhouette diecut by Marianne Designs
  • layered medallion and scalloped base produced with Spellbinders circle and scalloped circle frames
  • embroidery guide punch by EK Success. Completed size: 5 x 5.
