I am very new to narrative portraiture and this is only my second project; although I see areas where I could have done better (hindsight does that to you, doesn't it?!) I am pleased with the overall result. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Study your subject over and over and over again at the drawing and under-painting stage to ensure you have a good foundation to work with. I fell into the trap of adding shadow lines to the face that I eventually over emphasized. Working with glazes make corrections almost impossible after the work has had a chance to dry. I am so used to working with acrylics out of the tube where mistakes can easily be painted over that I got lost in too many shadows before I knew it.
