Spring Pansy

What type of piece is this? Painting Share a little about the materials, processes and techniques used to create this piece. I painted this pansy during a class with other seniors. A tonal underpainting was done first then each colour was applied in succession. I used a value scale of five for the colours working from dark to light. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Study the petal formation of your flowers and their colours from various sources. Look closely as to how the hues changes within the petals from one colour to another and also the tones of their colours. Working from tonal study helps immensely.
