"Raindrops on Roses..."

Project Description

What was your source for this piece? Other Tell us a little more about your inspiration. These are roses that I grow in the wee garden in front of my studio. The name of the rose is Floral Fairytale. There is another painting I did by that name, but this was taken right after I watered. Share a little about the materials, processes and techniques used to create this piece. I veered from my usual 140# cold press paper and used 300# cold press Arches. I liked working with it, didn't have to stretch it and I kind of liked the harder edges I got with it. I was also able to lift color quite easily. I used transparent watercolors and splashed a bit of Liquid Paper on it to finish and add to the water sparkles. Is the piece for sale? Q&A with susanwalshharper

ErnestoEckart asked:
It is beautiful Susan, just to give me some perspective; how long did it take you to paint it? :-)
susanwalshharper answered:
The painting itself took about a week, but planning the composition and values, then doing the drawing took three more days. I don't always work a full day, so figure 3 - 6 hours being a work day. So perhaps about 40-50 hours.
