Project

MOSAIC BBQ BACKSPLASH

Project Description

What are you most proud of? the jellyfish! and pretty much all of it. I just got divorced, had to leave it behind . . . seriously one of the hardest parts of the divorce! What advice would you give someone starting this project? Have a LOT of time set aside, and a good, freeform design in mind - I don't think you could do this with a strict pattern. It's kind of like doing a puzzle without the box!

What you will need

  • DAHL TILE FIELD TILE VARIOUS GLASS BAUBLES
  • ETC FROM MICHAELS WONDER BOARD HAMMER/TOWELS TILE SNIPS HOUSEHOLD EPOXY THINSET GROUT

Q&A with deedree

Ellie Jo asked:
OMG! I love it!!!! Where did you learn how to do this! You are very talented! Thanks for the inspiration! Waiting to see more... Elaine
deedree answered:
I didn't learn it anywhere - probably wouldn't have been so ambitious if I had! There isn't really much technical skill involved, just figuring out how best to attach the stuff - if you have an idea for a design, you can do this! Just pick something flexible enough that you can color it in with triangles of color - too fine of details and you will go nuts. The "posterize" effect on most photo apps can help you simplify/visualize a pattern from a photo and inspire you to make a design . . .
