Emergency Lamp Shade

Project Description

What are you most proud of? My Mom noticed it immediately and said, "What an adorable lampshade!" I like that the sheer fabric (while doubled) still added an airy feeling. I don't like heavy looks, so this worked. I had used the other sheer, white curtain panels as a make-shirt tablecloth on a CHEAP, round, table. Layering the curtains, hid the ugly X legs, and still remained light and airy. Those white sheers have gone a LONG way! What advice would you give someone starting this project? If time permits, do it right. Instead of relying on the ribbon drawstring to hold up the folded layer of fabric, sew the layers together. Instead of using masking tape to secure the fabric to the inside of the lampshade, sew a casing and thread elastic through it. Using elastic and a casing will make the gathers more uniform and you won't have to worry about the tape losing it's grip or God forbid, catching fire. This was a last second project that I couldn't do right, but it worked for the day.

What you will need
