I'm always impressed to see the impact of felted soaps on people : it's like love at first sight, they want to touch them, smell them... and eventually to bring them home ! They make fantastic gifts too. Felted wool can look amazing with subtle of vibrant color changes, and various textures. The best thing is that they are so easy to make by yourself at home, without any fancy equipments or tools. All you'll need is some roving, a soap and water.... and a lot of elbow grease !;-) Use your felted soap as a ready-to-use face cloth. With the added bonus of the pretty wool ! Depending on the wool used, your felted soap can have gently exfoliating properties too. The best part is that the wool will continue to felt each time you use it, so that it hugs the soap nicely until it's all used up. This tutorial contains a lot of step-by-step photos, along with detailed instructions explaining all you need to know about materials and technique to make your own felted soaps. BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY No skills are necessary: it's very easy and everything you need to know will be explained in the tutorial It's an ideal project to make with kids aged 7+

Supplies Needed

  • A handful of roving or batts in colors of your choice (approx 10g/soap).
  • Water and soap

Bonjour! I'm Sylvie Damey, french designer living in the french Alps. I learned to knit as a child, but taught myself to crochet a few years after my first daughter was born and I had started making things for her... Soon crochet completely took over knitting; crochet is so liberating and enpowering. I love to crochet clothes for my daughters or myself, always focusing on what I'd love to wear on a daily basis ... and what makes me happy ! :-) I'm a visual learner, so you'll find that I always add several in-progress pictures to my patterns so you always know what you're meant to do next.
