Top Down Icelandic Sweater

Project Description

What are you most proud of? I've only ever knitted a couple scarves and then socks after taking a class, but I didn't consider myself a true "knitter." I have friends who are what I thought of as Real Knitters, and I suddenly see that I can do way more than I ever expected. I'm excited to finish this sweater and be able to say, "Yes, I made this!" :) What advice would you give someone starting this project? Even though I've never knitted a full garment, I found my experience with knitting socks (I was taught magic loop, which really suits me) came in handy. I was already used to increases, decreases, short rows, picking up stitches etc., I had never heard of steeking before this class, but Ragga is very calm, smiling (always) and walks you through it so no fear! Ragga is an excellent teacher-probably my favorite so far among many excellent instructors--and I would take another of her classes ASAP. Update: I had some puckering after the adding the third color (I adjusted the strands in the back as I had long ends which helped) so I read online about color work and puckering....One person recommended blocking mid-project to see if that will take care of the problem. So I took the yoke off the needles and onto an extra strand of yarn and blocked by washing in mild shampoo (no conditioner). That was enough to relax the Berroco Vintage to get rid of _most_ of the puckers. So I will continue without frogging in this case~! I see in the images and after blocking it's not perfect, but it's a first sweater, so I knew it would proudly carry some issues as I learn a new skill :)

Gorgeous colors. I love the play of the self striping yarn into the collar. I'm done with a birthday present and should be able to get back to mine now. Look forward to seeing this finished
