Toe up - moccasin - gusset top down

Project Description

What are you most proud of? Love the reinforced toe, sole and heel. The gusset heel cable split turned into a nice feature for these socks. What advice would you give someone starting this project? The gusset and extra short rows in the reinforced heel fit mom's foot wonderfully.

What you will need

  • Regia #600 sock wool - white from mom's vintage stash.

QuiltMoxie answered:
Hi Storybookfibers, Thanks. They were made for my mom.
ginochka asked:
Nicely done!!! I really like the way the cable design fits into the sock anatomy. Is that a crochet finish at the cuff? Beautiful!
QuiltMoxie answered:
Thank you Ginochka, Yes, I used a crochet hook to do the picot finish on the cuff. Of course you can do this with knitting needles as well.
CarrieFibernista asked:
Wow, so clever having the cables border the gusset.
QuiltMoxie answered:
Thanks. It was easy to do because I was taking the class by Carol Feller, Celtic Cables when I knit the socks. Carol shows you how to split cables the way I did for the gusset.
Sophie Chausette asked:
Hi Ariana :-) I absolutely love what you did with these socks! Would you mind if I asked you if you did the gusset increases on the sole side or the instep side of the split cable? I can't tell from the photo... Cheers!
QuiltMoxie answered:
If I recall these socks were made using the free Ravelry pattern by Erin Case at . Erin is the host of the podcast the Anatomy of Knitting. I did slip stitch for the sole and split the cable at the heel. I hope this is helpful.
