The Hayling Islander

Project Description

Name of Pattern Name of pattern: Penguin What was your inspiration? My son Nigel and one of his daughters are very interested in animals and nature, so when the DVD The March of the Emperor came out, I wanted to buy it for him, as it was quite exceptional. Unfortunately it only existed in French at that time, but having watched it myself, I found that you dont really need to understand the spoken language in order to enjoy it. So I did buy it for him and - he got absolutely furious as it was in French and for a couple of years he refused to watch it. However, when he finally did, he had to admit that it was quite extraordinary, so the whole thing then became a joke. Bearing this in mind, I decided to play a practical joke on him on his 30th birthday. So I put his present into the box of my own penguin DVD and when I gave it to him, I told him they had made a follow up, which I though he would like. You should have seen his face ROFL Lately I have been making some toys and whilst doing that I came across Susan Andersons book itty-bitty toys and when looking in it, what did I find - a penguin!!! So of course I couldnt resist the temptation to make one for Nigel, now 36 and living in Hayling Island, hence the name of this new species of penguin :o)
