Sweater Maren

Project Description

What advice would you give someone starting this project? To turn this into a pullover I changed the beginning of the round to be behind my left shoulder rather than in the middle of the front, so that it would be less noticeable. Then after the ribbing and the increase row with the switch to larger needles, I didn't cast on the extra stitch that would be used as the steek stitch for the cardigan. Then I followed the chart as the pattern instructs, except that I just kept repeating the bit inside the red box without the extra bit you have at the beginning and ending of the round for the cardigan. To make my size I worked on a basis of 36 pattern repeats, then added an extra 8 sts just to the front after the yoke increases. My tension was about 18 sts to 10cm, so this gave me a chest circumference of 42 inches (zero ease). I decreased just on the back for the waist down to 40 inches (3 inches of positive ease), and then increased back up to 42 inches (zero ease) for the hip.

Tracy A. asked:
Lovely! Would you mind sharing your pattern alterations in order to make this a pullover?
HeatherMurray answered:
Thank you :-) And thank you for reminding me that I had put note on my Ravelry project but forgot to put them here too. It turns out my ramblings were too long for the comments (oh dear!) so I have put them in the bit at the top about the project. I hope that makes sense.
