Sweater Bike

Project Description

What are you most proud of? I am most proud of the flowers on the Spring basket. They gave me an opportunity to knit in 3D. I am also happy for the smiles I get when I ride by. People stop me all the time when I am riding around Manhattan and ask to take pictures of the sweater bike. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Do not be afraid to mix up colors, yarns, and patterns. There are no wrong choices. You are limited only by your imagination.

What you will need

  • A variety of scrap yarns used- wools
  • cottons
  • acrylics
  • alpacas etc. Whatever was in the yarn supply box.

Wow! What an imagination! It inspires me to think outside the box! Great job.
holl the doll answered:
Thank you so much for the totally unsolicited comment. You have saved me from web shame.
mekb asked:
What kind of yard did you use for this - wool, so that as it wore and got wet it would tighten down or did you use acrylics so that it would all fit from the beginning? Do you change your flowers for the season - Daffodils in Spring and Poinsettias in the fall?
holl the doll answered:
I actually have autumn leaves for the fall, but I like the idea of poinsettisas. Maybe I'll give them a try. Thanks for the good idea.
catsmoke642057 asked:
How long did it take to finish this project? Looks beautiful!!
holl the doll answered:
It's hard to estimate actual time as I worked on it off and on over the monthes. Maybe it took the length of several movies and quite a few episodes of "No Reservations".
