Project Description

What are you most proud of? The colours. I haven't used the colours for the original design used in the book. I needed something rather brighter so enjoyed a quiet half hour in the shop auditioning colours in the Rowan Cashsoft 4ply range. After a couple of knitted samples to get the sequence of colours right, I have ended up with this sequence. I feel quite pleased with it. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Enlarge the chart printed in the book. It really is far too small for comfortable use. The design is really quite straight forward, but you must remember to keep the tension carefully when knitting so that the design doesn't pucker. Another thing I found is that you do need to keep a note of which rows are going to need some shaping because not all of these are acknowledged on the chart. Yes, my first attempt meant I had to rip back the whole of the back from the shoulder shaping since I hadn't noticed the remainder of the shaping instructions. Persevere with the pattern because it really is worth the effort.

Q&A with Mandy54

Shannon Cassidy asked:
This is beautiful. I have never done anything so intricate, maybe someday I will be able to!
Mandy54 answered:
Of course you will. It looks daunting, but really isn't.
