Pink Icelandic Cardi

Project Description

What are you most proud of? My Steeking - I didn't use Lopi yarn. My yarn was 30% wool and 70% acrilic. So I used a sewing machine and then crocheted before cutting down the middle. It didn't unravel - Phew!!! I also quite like the pearl buttons - I noticed nobody else used it and I like pearls anyway so it made sense. What advice would you give someone starting this project? This was my first time doing clothing in the round and I found it great. It did get heavy towards the end. I chose to kinit this quite short because I like that look but it was nice to know I could have gone on and on if I wanted. I also changed down a needle size 2 inches after the armhole to get the waist to nip in a little and then I canged back up at the end.

What you will need

  • US 6 / 4.0 mm / UK 8
  • White/Cream
  • Grey and Pink worsted weight yarn. 7 pearl buttons ad white and pink dotted ribbon

Tootikki asked:
Your cardi looks lovely. Thanks for the tip with sizing down on needle for shaping. I'll have to try that sometime. Before now I have used a bit of 1/1 ribbing on sweaters for the same reason.
Nilza answered:
Thanks and you're very welcome. Not sure where I got that tip from or if made a huge difference!!! Lol but it fits well and I suppose that's what matters.

Thanks Josie. I wore it to work for the 2nd time last week and had many envious colleagues. One of them said I should take it if and give it to her then and another is begging me to make her one in yellow. I would love to however I don't have the time and sill have 2 unfinished projects!!
