  • The yarn in the picture is 100% Acrylic Double Knit. I got a 150g ball of it for £1.99 and was going to use it as a practice yarn for learning new stitches and for expanding my crochet library after I found Craftsy. I loved the way the pattern looked though so just kept going until I had a scarf length. It's made a light
  • non-bulky scarf that is surprisingly warm.

The project My first scarf - was this done on a knitting machine? A standard or a bulky? thank you It is very lovely scarf.
Essem Sween answered:
Hi, Thank you for your question. This wasn't done on a machine I knitted it a couple of years ago by hand. It started out as a practice piece, I wanted to see if I could learn the stitch and follow the pattern, but for a very complex looking pattern with that wavy edge it is surprisingly easy to follow. You could knit this on bigger needles and with a chunky yarn and get an equally interesting but completely different look. It's a stitch that's called either 'Old or Textured Shale Stitch' OR 'Feather & Fan Stitch' (Don't ask me why) lol. But I would say this to you, if you want to make it into a scarf, (if I make another one of these I'd do it this way) the cast off, no matter what you do is uneven and doesn't give you the same defined scallop edge as the cast on. I would knit the scarf in two halves and join them in the middle in some way. That way you get the same lovely edge on both sides. If you ran a couple of K1, P1 Rows it would be easy to either sew them together, or if you're experienced knit them together. I hope this helps, if I can help more just drop me a line.
