Moebius Cowl with an I-cord

Project Description

What are you most proud of? Managing to work on circular needles and completing this project. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Take extra care when casting on and knitting your first round. What the linked videos and then watch other ones to 'get the hang' of it. Cat Bordhi and eliZZZa13 on YouTube have alternative ways of casting on.

Q&A with EllyD

The Patchsmith asked:
Very nice and perfect for spring or summer evenings what a talented lady you are.
EllyD answered:
Thank you Amanda :)
quimera asked:
Beautiful. I am told that the cast on, and some of joking it is rather weird. Is this so? How hard would it be for a high beginner /low intermediate? Thanks for sharing!
EllyD answered:
The cast on is a little tricky but this was my first attempt at it. I had to restart a couple of times. But once you've got past the first round it is just straight forward knitting of 3 rows and purling of 3 rows. There are loads of video tutorials on YT. The two I've mentioned were the best I saw. Give it a go, it's only one skein of yarn. ;)
eamylove60 asked:
Beautiful color scheme. I'm fascinated by these scarves, and yours is lovely!
EllyD answered:
Thank you Amy :)
susantubr4471953 asked:
How many sts do you cast on?
EllyD answered:
The pattern says to cast on 84 using finger weight/4ply yarn. But you could cast on a few more or less depending on the yarn weight you're using. After the first few rows and a strange cast on, it is pretty easy. It is wonderful and comfy :)
Pamalamb asked:
what is an I-cord?
EllyD answered:
It's an edging which forms a type of tube. it can be used on crochet items as well as knitted. Think of a binding on the edge of a quilt. There are many video tutorials on YouTube which is where I learned how to make it. It's not difficult once you know how... this was my first attempt at it. Hope this helps
