Lace Yoke Cardigan

Project Description

What are you most proud of? The fit...after a fair amount of tinkering around and a few false starts, the fit is perfect. What advice would you give someone starting this project? It is critically important to make a swatch of the whole lace pattern, especially if you decide to make a dramatic change in yarn, i.e. from wool to cotton. Measure carefully as you are knitting the yoke and try on often. For the sweater to have an attractive contemporary look and fit, the armhole needs to be quite high with limited ease in the sleeve. Calculate your gauge for the body eyelet pattern carefully and use this gauge to make adjustments in the width and length of the sleeves and body.I finally leaned to read charts working on this project and making a couple of swatches of the lace pattern to get the right gauge was most helpful. By the time I was ready to knit the yoke, I had a good understanding of the logic of the lace pattern design, and thus, made fewer mistakes along the way.

Antieno, Thank you very much. I'm delighted that Spring is here and I can wear it again - it's great with jeans; but then what isn't?

would love to share the pattern for this , it is just so elegant , thanks for posting a picture
PenelopeH answered:
Hello Neko, Thank you for taking the time to comment and for your lovely compliments. I adapted this from a commercial pattern -- it is Project 20 Lace Yoke Cardigan in the October 2011 issue of Knit 'n Style magazine. On the website www.knitnstyle.com you can order back issues and this issue appears to still be available. In the project posting above - click on 'full details' and you will find a description of the modifications I made to the pattern, as well as the yarn I used which was ordered online from Webs (www.yarn.com). If you would like to access just the chart, look in the 'corrections' section of the Knit 'n Style website where a corrected chart is posted as a pdf. Thank you again for your kind feedback. Penny
