Folknits Qiviuq Herringbone Hat

Project Description

What was your source for this knitting project? Online Photo or Website Name of website or photo Folknits Qiviug Herringbone Hat by Wendy Chambers Link to website or photo www.folknits.com What are you most proud of? I've never tried a Fair Isle pattern before and this one turned out really well. I managed to keep the yarn tension consistent and the pattern worked up nicely. The braid technique was really interesting to try. I may incorporate this into future projects. What advice would you give someone starting this project? I am ashamed to say that I never knit the tension swatch. I've always just jumped right into the project... With a wool as expensive as this i would recommend knitting the sample. I got lucky and my tuque fits (whew). Follow the directions for the braid and DO NOT attempt to untwist the yarn; they will, as promised, untwist in the second round.

What you will need

  • 100% Muskox qiviuq (30g black/12.5g natural)

Q&A with Purkinje

Sugar n Spice asked:
See...you can be warm and fashionable! Very cute! Keeping warm in your part of the world is a must. It looks so pretty there, but chillleeeeeeee!
Purkinje answered:
Thank you for the comments! It was a chilly -21C here this morning. Although I shouldn't complain because the sun has come back and the snow is melting (slowly, but still melting).
