Fish Blanket

Project Description

What was your source for this knitting project? Online Photo or Website Name of website or photo Fishie Afghan Link to website or photo http://f1.grp.yahoofs.com/v1/kPbBTTHXrZH9cf_ZnL5t9O1UuQCJW9fH-DcLv-hahkrKlb1ZqyFTqqs3uINymWShLy3I20RI-8ZHjr5kAaLdp-gvW-8IIbUk70cXpQ/Patterns/Fishies%21%20/FISHIE%20AFGHAN%20PATTERN.xls What are you most proud of? That I am still knitting these fish!! I have 101 knitted so far and I need 180 for a blanket that will measure 4 feet X 5 feet. It took 180 fish to complete this afghan. I connected the fish with a crochet braid stitch that yielded a braid on one side and a zig zag on the other. The border is a simple SC with a little bobble stitch. We love it! The weight is perfect and the patchwork appeals to my sense of style :o) What advice would you give someone starting this project? Have lots of patience. It takes quite awhile to knit enough fish to make a blanket. AND weave in your ends as you go along. Don't wait like I did until you have 96 fish and then start to weave them in :o)

What you will need

  • I used all my leftover bits of yarn from other projects. Primarily cotton from dishcloths
  • but then other yarns that yeilded the same guage.
