Clarus in Blue

Project Description

What are you most proud of? That I completed this project without having to frog it at all! What advice would you give someone starting this project? This is not a difficult pattern and the construction style is clever, 2 triangles and a strip down the center. Just keep the pattern in front of you and you can't go wrong!

What you will need

  • 400+ fingering weight yarn
  • circular needles US5
  • blocking supplies

Q&A with PriscillaW

Mandy54 asked:
What lovely colours there are in the yarn you have used.
PriscillaW answered:
Thank you! Thought is would work well as a Spring time shawl.
sewinsuzie asked:
I forgot to ask you about your yarn. Did you order it online? I ordered my yarn from Knitpicks. I have never been disappointed with any orders that I have got from them but this time I ordered light fingering yarn. I ordered 3 colours. It was on sale and wasn't expensive. I didn't want to spend a fortune until I saw how I did with the pattern. Unfortunately one colour which I didn't care for was the correct weight but the other two even though they were tagged the same was heavier. I decided to go ahead but I re-ordered and this time I think it will be ok. It is written up as excellent for lace shawls. The colours are much nicer too. The only thing that I am finding is just how expensive yarn is for making shawls. I am 79 in a couple of weeks and just don't have that kind of money to buy the real expensive yarn. I just wondered if the yarn that you got was super expensive too. sorry to take up so much of your time.
PriscillaW answered:
Hi Suzie, Yes, for my Clarus, I did order my yarn online. It was from k2tog.com, which is the only place I found that had the Schaeffer yarn I liked. I don't recall what I spent. Some of the lace shawl yarns can be a little pricey, but if you can manage it, they are well worth the price when you consider the time and work put into the shawl. Still, I've ordered yarns from knitpicks too and they have some nice products. Thank you for your kind comments! Good for you for picking up lace shawls at your age. I'm a bit older beginner knitter too at 60, but it's such a great hobby! Take care and enjoy your shawls!
