3/4 Sleeve Pullover

Project Description

What are you most proud of? This is my first attempt to customize a sweater for my body. I wanted the sweater to be more snug around the waist and the arms. Also, I thought the neckline would be cuter if I only worked 15 rows of the raglans sleeves. The 3/4 in sleeves make this a year round sweater, allowing me to wear this during the day, without rolling up my sleeves (literally) when I'm immersed in housework or crafting! What advice would you give someone starting this project? Learning to create custom, more shapelier sweaters all begins with an adventurous spirit!

What you will need

  • I used smaller needles this time to achieve a more shapely sweater. Around the bust
  • I switched to larger needles.

Great ideas for shaping!
Cara Michelle answered:
Thank you. I view this sweater as a test "muslin," to grow and learn organically, the art of shaping.
brigidb asked:
Very nice, and what a clever idea for shaping!
Cara Michelle answered:
Thank you, it's the easiest, beginner method of shaping in my opinion.
Ezwriter asked:
I really like your ideas and your finished product is great!
Cara Michelle answered:
Thank you!
Meghan Criss asked:
Well done, Miss Cara! And you knit it so quickly! What's your next knitting project?
Cara Michelle answered:
Hi Meghan, I'm attempting "short rows" to shape my next sweater around the bust. I'm also using merino and cashmere wool, so I'll actually feel I can wear it in public! I snagged 10 skeins from Craftsy's yarn sale, a total of only $30! While I wanted to start on the cardigan, I feel I haven't perfected the pullover yet.
