If you've ever wondered if you can apply bias tape or any other fabric to your hand knitted items using a sewing machine, the answer is YES, YOU CAN DO IT! To prove it, I've designed my "Yes You Can Do It! Simply Elegant Open Front Cardigan." It's not only simply elegant, it's elegantly simple to make. REALLY! The knitting involves some easy decreases, which I explain to you in my pattern. I've also included color photos showing you how to apply bias tape to the neckline/front edging of your project. For this project, I used a Clover 2-inch/5 cm bias tape making tool to make my own bias tape out of a gorgeous brocade fabric. These are fun little gadgets. You slide fabric through one end of the tool and as you pull the fabric out of the other end, you iron the folds. If you're curious about combining basic sewing skills with your knitting, I hope you'll consider my design. It's an easy knit and if you follow my instructions, you should end up with a beautiful Simply Elegant Open Front Cardigan. Once you try this, a whole new world of knitting possibilities will open up for you. Of course if you don't have a sewing machine, you can still apply the bias tape by hand. The sleeves are designed to be 3/4 length, but you can certainly make them full length if that is your wish. As with all my designs, if you have any questions as you work, please contact me via the Email printed on the pattern. I will get back to you with the answer. I want you to have fun, learn something new and end up with a fantastic result! Follow my blog at: I am certified as a Level 1 Master Hand Knitter by The Knitting Guild Association. My grandmother Lena taught me to knit when I was 4 years old and told me that a lifetime of knitting pleasure was her legacy to me. I love to design and knit and enter my work in competitions. I've won numerous awards and ribbons over the years and that's a lot of fun, but the greatest pleasure is the actual creative process. I specialize in Beginner and Intermediate level designs that teach new skills and promote excitement for the art that is Knitting. I think new knitters should have the opportunity to work with a well-written design that reinforces their current skills, teaches them new skills and gets a "WOW, you made that?!!?" response when showing off their completed project.
