Wetland is a double knit scarf pattern by Katya Frankel, from her Head to Toe: Kids' Knit Accessories book. Wetland is a double-knit reversible scarf knitted with an original stitch pattern, charted specifically for this design. Double knitting is a technique that creates reversible fabric, with the pattern on one side typically being the reverse of the pattern on the flip side. Both the right and the wrong sides are worked simultaneously on the same set of needles, with front stitches (the ones that are facing you) always worked in stockinette as knits and the back stitches (those that are facing away from you) always worked in reversed stockinette as purls. The color stitch pattern itself is what holds the two sides together in a quilt-like fashion. BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY Knit stitches, increases and decreases.
