Every now and then someone asks for something a little different to be made for Christmas. You think...wonderful!! Something different! And the search for the perfect pattern begins......and ends hours later with disappointment. The perfect pattern isn't anywhere to be found. This is the situation I found myself in. I was asked to make something and could not find a pattern anywhere. So after hours and hours of playing with needle and yarn I came up with the boot cuffs pictured. And they were exactly what that certain someone had asked for....right down to the color. These boot cuffs are a fun knit. They took less than a skein of worsted weight yarn (commercial or hand spun) to knit (about 200 yds) and can be completed in a weekend. They are comprised of two rib patterns....making them reversible. Simply flip them if you want a different look. They can be worn up mimicking sock tops or worn cuffed over the top of boots. They are easily customizable as well. Simply add or subtract stitches/rows for a smaller/larger diameter or longer/shorter length. Pattern is 4 pages in length. It's a written pattern with no charts. The rib patterns are very easy to remember so charts aren't necessary. BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY cast on, bind off, knit, purl, slip 1, pass slipped stitch over, knit in the round using double points, two circular needles, or magic loop GAUGE 5 sts/7 rounds per inch SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS 12" in diameter (unstretched), 9" in length SUGGESTED YARN 200 yards of Worsted weight PREFERRED BRAND/YARN Brown Sheep Nature Spun COLORWAY Charcoal

I enjoy spinning, knitting, and quilting. I have a small spinner's flock consisting of 11 Shetland sheep, 3 Suri alpacas, 3 Huacaya alpacas, and 2 llamas who watch over them all. Finding patterns for using with handspun yarns hasn't always been easy. Since I primarily use my own handspun yarns (there are gift giving) I started dabbling with designing my own quite some time ago. I've received so many very nice comments about my original designs that I thought I would make them available for everyone. I try to write each pattern so that it can be used whether you use a handspun yarn or commercially purchased yarn. I also try to write each pattern so they are fun to knit...not frustrating. It is my sincere hope that everyone who uses one of my patterns enjoys knitting it as much I enjoy creating it. As for copyright...only the written instructions, photos, diagrams, charts are copyrighted. What you do with the finished item is strictly up to you. After all, you made it. =) So you can love it, sell it, give it away, or whatever else you would like to do with it. Happy Knitting!!
