While cables are traditionally worked on a background of reverse stockinette (purl stitches), I love the more subtle texture that's created when you work those same cables on a stockinette ground (knit stitches). Worked in such a way they create a fluid texture that looks more like part of the fabric rather than braiding into a pattern atop of it. Intermediate difficulty - MATERIALS AND NOTIONS Adjust needle size as needed to obtain correct gauge. GAUGE BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY Knit, purl, cabling, working in the round. GAUGE 20 sts = 4 in / 10cm in St st. SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS Finished circumference 18 (20) in / 46 (51) cm, finished height 6 (61/4) in / 15 (16) cm. Shown in size 18 in.
