This cropped cardi idea came to me as I was trying to come up with alternatives to the summer shawl (and nothing against shawls cause, hey, I design them, too!), but not everyone is a shawl person, yet just about everyone needs something compact and light to throw on as needed. I love the slight nod to stripes here, as well as the wonderful textural detail, especially along the front neckline. However, a solid color would work equally well and still provide the same textural interest. This cardigan will work up quickly in aran weight yarn; do take note of the fact that I used worsted weight yarn held double throughout in the sample garment.
