The subject of "Turning Points" was my original inspiration for this beret. I was reflecting on how my life is just a collection of so many turning points when the construction of this hat started to grow in my mind. The turning points eventually make up a full circle and became part of a bigger thing. Easier to see this in the beret, though. You will knit this hat from the top down. By using short rows, you will make several wedges that grow from each other and end up forming the crown. From there, you'll knit the rib band, and a nice gathered stitch detail that accents the transition between crown and rib. This is a hat that we'll keep your head warm on the outside, and happily entertained on the inside. BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY You need to do some short rows, though no picking of wraps is necessary. And some 3 needle bind off. I am a long time knitter and crocheter, as well as a very recent knitwear designer. My aesthetic is rather urban - I live in one of the world's largest cities and that influences me to some extent. I like color a lot and I want my pieces to be interesting to make. I try to offer that in my patterns. I am also a ceramist and I occasionaly dabble onto some ostensibly silly painting (quite unfrequently though, no need to panic)
