The classic shape of a tree lends itself so well to the incorporation of knit cables into a curving trunk and branches. There are many knit tree designs available, but I wanted to create my own. After many hours of knitting, note scribbling, re-knitting and tweaking; many prototypes and design changes, this is the final result. I used a worsted weight yarn for this 16" x 16" pillow cover. It has a 3 button closure and is finished with a single crochet border. The pattern is written row by row, not as a chart. If you are familiar with using a cable needle and counting rows you should have no trouble with this pattern. BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY Cable knitting Following/counting row by row instructions single crochet for border GAUGE 4"x4" (10 x10cm) on 5.5mm/US9/UK5 needles = 16 stitches and 24 rows of stocking stitch SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS 16" x 16" (40.5cm x 40.5cm) SUGGESTED YARN 300 yards of Worsted weight

Originally from the UK, and after almost 13 years in Texas, I now live in beautiful Colorado with my husband and sons. Easily outnumbered by boys in my house, I am queen of my little realm, hence the title Ladyship! Ever since my Mum taught me to knit and sew I have loved the creative process and experimenting with design. I find pillow covers to be the perfect way to combine my love of design and the textures that can be created with a single strand of yarn. I especially love experimenting with cable patterns.
