I am delighted to present a magic loop version of the knitted fingerless glove. There are so few men's/boys' patterns available online, and this may be the only one that uses a single cable needle in place of multiple DPNS or knitting two halves of a glove and having to stitch them together. If you are familiar with the magic loop method, then this glove pattern will be a cinch! If not, a link to an online tutorial is provided in the pattern to get you started. This is a pattern for The Sportsman Gloves, a stunningly easy-to-knit glove pattern. The pattern is written using light fingering weight wool, but any light fingering weight yarn would work just as well. Needle size required is a US 2 circular with a 24-inch cable. Pattern requires between 180 yds. and 235 yds. light fingering weight yarn, depending on size of glove. BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY knitting in-the-round GAUGE 9 stitches by 10 rows = 1 inch (stockinette) SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS small, medium, large, extra-large SUGGESTED YARN 235 yards of Fingering weight PREFERRED BRAND/YARN Peruvian or Highland wool

Recommended with this pattern

  • US #2 (2.75 mm) circular needles (12- to 16-inch cable) optional
  • US #2 (2.75 mm) circular needles (24-inch cable)
  • tapestry needle
