This pattern was adapted from a vintage Baby Sweater Pattern. All shaping is done with short rows (yoke and sleeve cuffs). The worsted weight yard worked all in garter stitch gives a soft, comfortable sweater/jacket with lots of give. It is 27" long. The jack is worked all in garter stitch starting at the left front edge, worked to the side seam, then the body stitches are put on a holder and the sleeve stitches are cast on. The yoke and sleeve cuffs are worked in short rows as you go. Sleeve stitches are cast off when wide enough, body stitches picked up from holder and back worked. Second sleeve worked the same way. The jacket is finished with 2 rows of single crochet with a chain stitch worked for the button loop. A zipper is hand stitched from the neck edge stopping short of the hemline for ease of movement. The collar is picked up from the neck edge. Warm, cozy, comfortable; this jacket will become a staple of your wardrobe. Hello all, Thanks for buying my pattern and for those of you who have emailed me with questions. I have added "ridge" counts to this patten for ease in sizing as well as a stitch count for the picked up stitches at the upper yoke. I have also taken into consideration a comment regarding the shaping of the upper yoke and collar. This revision has the decrease row later in the yoke rather than at the pick up row. Hope this clarifies and makes for a better fit for all figure types. I've reknit it this way and like it... so thanks! Also, I reknit it in a Malabrigo and it used more yarn than the Wool of the Andes; I've add a skein to each size just in case ; it's so frustrating to run out of yarn.
