Although the beret was mainly improvised, when finished, the top part made me think of the desert sun. Knitted in the round, from the bottom up, this piece is versatile, wearable as a hat as well as a beret. It is comfortable enough in moderately cool nights, or in the winter. The samples are worn in Chicago,IL, in the winter, and in Flagstaff, AZ, in late summer. I have created my own patterns since I started knitting as a child. I'm not sure I can even say that, everything I made was mostly improvised. It was easier for me do that than trying to follow a design. Other knitters inspire me though. I love lots of patterns. I only use them as a starting point, to create my own. Though some of my patterns have been published in Knitcircus Magazine a few years ago, I am still only a weekend knitter. However, I try to write down some of my patterns. I also like to share them, it's nice to see others knit something based on my patterns. Sometimes I blog about my knitting projects at www.ré
