Pattern Details

The Summer Sidewalk blanket is a very easy knitting pattern that may be used with DK or worsted weight yarn. Read more about this pattern on my blog: http://fiftyfourtenstudio.blogspot.com/2017/03/summer-sidewalk-blanket-new-easy.html DIRECTIONS FOR FIVE SIZES: Approximate sizes after blocking… Baby: 27” wide x 27.25” long Small (Crib/Lap): 29” wide x 31.25” long Medium: 31” wide x 35.25” long Large: 35” wide x 41.25” long XL: 41” wide x 49.25” long Finished size may vary depending on yarn weight and gauge used. Any of the blanket sizes may be made longer by adding pattern repeats. Each pattern repeat adds about 2” to the length of the blanket. Pattern includes estimates for additional yardage needed to make blankets longer. DK or WORSTED WEIGHT YARN: Baby: 600 - 625 yards Small (Crib/Lap): 750 - 780 yards Medium: 900 - 950 yards Large: 1200 - 1275 yards XL: 1650 - 1750 yards Be sure to buy additional yarn if you plan to add length to your blanket. This pattern will work well with many DK or worsted weight yarns. GAUGE: Garter stitch with US size 7 needles: approximately 18 stitches & 28 rows = 4” Exact gauge is not essential. I used US size 7 knitting needles…but choose the needle size that gives the best appearance with your yarn and your knitting tension. Significantly different gauge may require more yarn. CIRCULAR NEEDLES: In order to accommodate the large number of stitches, long circular needles are recommended. SKILL LEVEL: Easy/Beginner You will need to know how to cast on stitches, knit and purl confidently, read a row by row knitting pattern, bind off stitches and weave in ends. Blocking of finished knitting is recommended. This pattern uses standard U.S. knitting terms. Knit flat, in one piece, back and forth on circular knitting needles. Written pattern with row by row instructions. ********************************************* Summer Sidewalk blanket is a lightweight version of one of my favorite chunky blanket designs…Where the Sidewalk Ends: https://www.craftsy.com/knitting/patterns/where-the-sidewalk-ends/472949

I have been knitting since I was about 8 years old. My mother taught me to knit and my parents encouraged me to explore all kinds of arts & crafts activities by providing me with the materials that I needed to create. As a girl, I loved to sew (I spent hours using my mother’s sewing machine making clothes for my dolls), knit, draw and paint. In high school I spent all my extra time at school hanging out in the art room. In college I worked at a cute little yarn shop. Many years later...I started designing and publishing knitting patterns in November 2013...I love it! I love giving hand knit gifts to my friends and family. I love to see the smile on their faces when they open the gift I made for them. I hope that you enjoy using my knitting patterns to create special projects for your home, friends & family.
