The majority of the knitting on these lovely smocked mitts is done inside-out and from the top to the bottom. So, a little unusual, but very easy! If you've never worked smocking before, never fear. I have a tutorial at the end of the pattern and there is a video online here: BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY knit purl work in the round GAUGE Before smocking: 38 sts = 4" / 10cm in unsmocked, unstretched Beaded Purl Rib. After smocking: 44 sts = 4" / 10cm. SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS All mitts are 7.5" / 19cm long. Width at knuckles after smocking: 6.7 (7.6, 8.4)" / 17 (19.5, 21.5) cm.
