Pattern Details

How would you like to make a little bit of the seaside? This realistic spiral shell is knitted flat, in two pieces, with 2 double-pointed needles and short rows. The shaping makes the knitting fall into a natural spiral. Use any 4ply sock wool. It is a great way to use up any oddments that you have left over. My new hobby is looking for realistic shell shades. There is one long seam. And then sewing it into a spiral is done with tiny stitches. The pattern has detailed photographs and instructions explaining how to do this. BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY Knitting GAUGE 32 stitches and 44 rows = 4 inches SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS Finished shell is approx 3.5 inches long

Recommended with this pattern

  • Two double-pointed needles 2.0 mm
  • Approx 10g 4ply wool

The inspiration for my knitting patterns often comes from nature. I love little knitting projects, and try my hardest to be realistic with my plant and animal designs. Often my projects start from something very personal: my own house or my husband's first car. Then I develop them into something that I think will be appealing. I live on the outskirts of London, and work part-time at a local school. My own children are always doing something creative. At school I love the days when we get really messy.
