In northern British Columbia the winters are long, cold, snowy, and dark. While that sometimes makes the outdoors uncomfortable, it does have other benefits. The opportunity to observe extended hours of dawn and dusk in the middle of the day is one of them. Watching the inky sky slowly illuminate into intensely phosphorescent shades of blue over a glittering blanket of snow is breathtaking. This hat could never hold a candle to that spectacle, but hopefully channels the idea. Luckily, the four colour Fair Isle motif worked into it makes for some exceedingly warm headwear, perhaps even warm enough to go out and watch the show. I’m 27 and live in northern British Columbia with my beloved boyfriend and Labrador/Bernese Mountain dog Sophie. I've been knitting steadily for about 7 years and mostly gravitate toward knitting cold weather accessories and patterns with interesting elements involved in their design or construction. Lately I’ve really enjoyed creating hat patterns.
