As a big fan of double knitting, I've designed a number of scarves and accessories using this technique. A baby bonnet is the perfect size for knitters to explore new techniques in double-knitting, and once I got started, I found there were lots of happy recipients willing to model a soft, cozy handknit! Start with two simple I-cords, add a connecting cast-on, and soon you're into a bit of lovely double- knitting. From the I-cord straps to the heart- emblazoned crown, this sweet little hat is knitted entirely in one piece. It is, of course, perfectly reversible, and will keep a little head very warm. I've added a Youtube tutorial to help you get on your way--see the attached link! This pattern has been updated to include clickable links (highlighted in turquoise)! These links will take the knitter to relevant Youtube clips and other webpages with a single click.
