This scarf has been made to replace my dad's much loved woven one. This inspired the use of a stitch pattern which immitates a checkered pattern on its right side. Even on the wrong side the pattern has a woven air to it. As this scarf is based on garter stitch, the scarf is really soft and warm. It's an easy project for beginners with enough action going on not to bore advanced knitters. You only work one colour per row, so there is nothing to be afraid of. Ready to for the next level? The Slip Stitch Flip Tops feature the same stitch pattern worked in the round! BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY You should be able to: knit. cast on and bind off. GAUGE 30sts = 10cm/4'' in pattern stitch. Getting gauge is not crucial. SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS Width: 18cm/7'', length: 127cm/50''; the size is easily adjustable. I learned knitting, crochet and sewing from my mum when I was young. I kept on going from there and soon invented my own projects. From making up my own patterns to writing them down and grading them it was only a small step. And here we are. :) You can read more about my adventures in knitting (and sewing) on my blog:
