This is a quick and easy project for almost any yarn giving a Stocking stitch gauge of between 4 - 8 sts per inch. It's ideal for using up small amounts of precious yarns. A soft wool yarn will be the most warm, comfortable and elastic. The hat fits a wide range of head sizes and can be customized in many ways or knit as a headband by omitting the crown. BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY knitting in the round purling in the round GAUGE This versatile pattern is suitable to various yarn weights and thus the gauge is variable--anywhere between 4 and 8 stitches per inch SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS 21"-23" around

Supplies Needed

  • approximately 100 g of yarn -- Worsted to Fingering Weight
  • a set of 4 or 5 double pointed needles may be used throughout, though working the brim on a 40 cm circular needle is much more fun!
