I'm not really a "trendy" person. I go for classic shapes and I own a lot of vintage (read: old) clothing. But I've fallen for two trends this fall - scallops and oversized clutches. Put them together, and you get Scallop of the Sea, an oversized, scalloped, fold-over beauty that's big enough to hold your wallet AND iPad, but hot enough to take to the bar. Notes Scallop of the Sea is stranded knitting in the round. After you knit a big, scalloped tube, you will seam it flat on one end, and then the fun starts! It's lined with fabric and interfacing, to give it extra oomph, and finished with a colorful zipper. Hi, I'm Katie Canavan, a textile artist and designer who lives & works in Los Angeles. After watching my mom make quilts, I took a quilting class at age 8. The year was 1992 and I haven't stopped sewing since. I went to Michigan State University to study Acting & Costume Design, and I taught all my friends and roommates how to knit. I love to take something old - whether a bookcase or a vintage sheet - and give it new life. I'm inspired by nature & the nostalgic and I'm completely obsessed with color.
