Cubist paintings were not concerned with three-dimensional, realistic representations of their subjects. Rather, objects were depicted on a single, flat plane, with all "faces," or surfaces, simultaneously visible. Historically, the term "Cubism" seems to have derived from Matisse's description of the elements of a 1907 Braque painting as "cubes." How much more fun is it to actually knit a cubist-style tote bag than to read art history? I love everything about knitting...knitting itself, designing and now, creating yarn for you to use when working my patterns. Let me customize the blend and colorways you want: Some people see a gorgeous sunset and photograph it. Others paint it. I knit it. Fiber and fabric are my media. Knitting the sunset makes it mine.
