PATTERN DETAILS

The red admiral butterfly comes in two versions. If you make the 3D toy, you could make one, or several for a lovely mobile. The applique version would be great to sew onto a bag or hairband. I have tried to make the butterfly as realistic as possible. There is a little bit of embroidery to do, but I think the blanket stitch around the edge of the wings gives it a nice homey look. My pattern is fairly straightforward, and lists every row you need to knit (with a total of how many stitches you should have at the end of each row). I really like patterns set out like this, as you know exactly how far through you are, and also if you have gone wrong. The pattern also includes a colour chart. I hope you enjoy your butterfly. BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY Knitting and Embroidery SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS Finished butterfly is approx 6 inches across

The inspiration for my knitting patterns often comes from nature. I love little knitting projects, and try my hardest to be realistic with my plant and animal designs. Often my projects start from something very personal: my own house or my husband's first car. Then I develop them into something that I think will be appealing. I live on the outskirts of London, and work part-time at a local school. My own children are always doing something creative. At school I love the days when we get really messy.
