Quick and easy project with super-duper bulky yarn (@ 2.25 WPI) on large needles. Make a lovely gift in about an hour. Beginner skill level - knits, purls, and slips only. No buttonholes needed, they just slip right thru the large weave. Written and charted directions provided with US and metric conversions. No blocking necessary. Has double wide slipped st selvages for a nice finished look. Fully reversible. Easily adjustable for width, simply add or subtract multiples of 2 from CO. Sample used my leftovers of Rasta Zarzamora (35 yards/32 m/ 58 gr) -a full hank of Rasta is 90 yds/80 m/150 gr so you can easily get 2 head bands from one hank. Great with other yarn sizes and gauges too, simply swatch with chosen yarn and needle, figure your sts per inch, and multiply that by how wide you want it. Always CO an odd # of sts and you're good to go! Widen and lengthen to make a cowl or scarf. For closure try lacing with ribbon. This is great for an adjustable circumference - or if you're a little short on yarn ;) BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY knit purl slip (seed st) GAUGE Not critical but will affect width and yardage. Sample: 9 sts in seed (stretched long) = 4" (10 cm) SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS As directed 5" (12.5 cm) wide knit to desired length can be easily modified for size/yarn/needles SUGGESTED YARN 40 yards of Bulky weight PREFERRED BRAND/YARN Malabrigo Rasta COLORWAY Zarzamora
