Both of my nephews are really into Pokemon (I suppose if anyone has kids under the age of 10, this is a ridiculously obvious statement, but bear with me), so for my nephew Jake's birthday this month, I thought I should knit him his very own Pikachu. Even though there are loads of cute Pokemon crochet amigurumi out there, I consider my newfound crochet skills remedial at best. Yep, better stick to the knitting on this one! Of the very few knitted Pikachu patterns I found, I couldn't find one that looked quite right, so I set to work making up my own! BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY Increasing & Decreasing Duplicate Stitch Knitting in the Round GAUGE 20 sts and 26 rows = 4" in stockinette stitch in the round - gauge is not terribly important for this project, however. SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS Pikachu will stand approximately 9 inches tall. SUGGESTED YARN 200 yards of Worsted weight PREFERRED BRAND/YARN Muench Family COLORWAY Yellow

I learned to knit the worst way there is - from a book! And not even a good book, a really crappy one (Knitting for Dummies)! For some reason I stuck with it, and now I'm thoroughly addicted. I’ve been a licensed massage therapist, a yarn dyer for a small hand-dyed yarn company, and spent many years as an office slave. As previously noted, I compulsively knit, design and spin in my free time. If I’m not doing any of the above, you can find me playing music in the band Shalloboi, in which I sing and play drums.
